BEFORE SUBMITTING A PETITION
YOU MAY SUBMIT AN ELECTRONIC PETITION IF:
1) YOU ARE APPEALING THE VALUE OF YOUR PROPERTY OR IF YOU ARE APPEALING THE DENIAL OF AN
EXEMPTION/CLASSIFICATION. There is a $15.00 NON-REFUNDABLE fee to file a petition for a single parcel to the Value
Adjustment Board. All electronically filed petitions will also incur a 3.5% NON-REFUNDABLE credit card processing fee.
2) YOU ARE FILING A PETITION THAT CONTAINS MULTIPLE NON-CONTIGUOUS PARCELS. You must complete a petition
for each parcel and a $15.00 NON-REFUNDABLE filing fee plus a 3.5% NON-REFUNDABLE credit card fee will be
required for each petition.
Petitions for contiguous properties must be submitted by mail or in person to the Value Adjustment Board. Pursuant to F.S. 193.011(3)(e) and (f), these petitions must be accompanied by a determination from the Property Appraiser's Office that the properties are substantially similar. The Florida Department of Revenue has issued Form DR-486MU (Attachment to Single Joint Petition for Multiple Units Filing found below) for use with contiguous properties. Please be advised that pursuant to Rule 12D-9.015(2) F.A.C., agents must provide their license number on the petition or must provide a letter of authorization or a notarized power of attorney from the taxpayer. The letter of authorization may be emailed to e-mailed to Clerk.VAB@mypinellasclerk.gov, or sent via U.S. mail to: Board Records Department, c/o VAB Clerk, 315 Court Street, 5th Floor, Clearwater, FL 33756.

Petitions must be received by the Clerk to the Value Adjustment Board on or before these deadlines or they will be considered late and subject to a good cause determination. Online filing will not be available after September 13, 2024 because petitioners must also submit written reasons for submitting petitions after the filing deadline.
